4 years after the release of their first album, Haunting Hearts (2017), Prize Fighters return with a brand new sound, creating a more sonically intense atmosphere while reminiscing the same "heart-on-their-sleeve" delivery from their acoustic days. With the release of their new EP, A New Beginning, it marks a new era for not only their sound, but for their mindset towards new musical concepts. A New Beginning discusses depression, the ups and downs of relationships, regret, and staying true to yourself while not being afraid to walk away from unhealthy situations. Striving to be the best they can be, Prize Fighters hope to inspire others who struggle to find self-worth and encourage them to not be afraid of chasing their dreams.

 

  Having been best friends since the age of only 13, David Bareno and Brianna Lasiter had no problem clicking when it came to creating music. Both heavily influenced by their love for music, the duo began writing and performing together in early 2014 and haven’t stopped since. Bareno had been performing open mics and eventually encouraged Lasiter to pick up the cajon (hand drum) and perform with him. They performed covers together until they realized they were onto something good and decided to take things more seriously. It was then that they began writing the Haunting Hearts record together.

 

  Soon after the Haunting Hearts era, David & Brianna began the writing process for what would eventually become A New Beginning. This time around, Brianna had developed a passion to play the full drum kit. With help from David, Brianna continued to hone in her own style while delivering a powerful backbeat that interlocks the duo together. With a song like "The Quiet Ones", the transition from acoustic to electric seemed only natural. By experiencing multiple hardships and toxic situations, it provided a fresh start for the duo, pushing them to evolve themselves as well as their music. By March 2020, the time had come to start recording A New Beginning. Wrapping in December of that same year, Prize Fighters have been waiting eagerly to share their brand new music with their fans.

 

As of February 13th, 2021, A New Beginning is now available on all major music streaming platforms.
